The place you are in feels familiar. You recognize the space, its function, and perhaps even your own experiences. But what if you are new? What if you have just arrived? You adapt, seek connection, and create your own place within an unfamiliar environment. It’s a balance between familiarity and discovery. How comforting it is to settle into a warm and welcoming space – and how revealing it is to find yourself in unknown territory.

 

This exhibition is a collaboration between De Stu and De Zolder, two Rotterdam-based spaces where creating and experiencing art come together. De Stu is a place for making and gathering, while De Zolder connects and presents artistic expression.

 

Four makers from De Stu have immersed themselves in the familiar elements of their own surroundings, their essence, and are bringing them to De Zolder. The result is an exhibition that both disorients and reassures, exploring identity within a new context.
